Your Fitness Solution, A Home Gym?

According to this article, home gym equipment in America topped $5 billion in 2006, while 2007 sales increased an additional 3 percent.

Apparently, current numbers are suggesting that more Americans are investing in treadmills; sales surpassed almost $3 billion last year.

I run outdoors because outdoor training has proven most beneficial for me. Remember, just because something worked for me, does not mean it will do the same for you. Everyone is different, and everyone has specific needs. I remember training with treadmills, and soon realizing, to my displeasure, that I was not as conditioned as one might think.

So, I wanted to ask my readers, because I’m sure many of you, like me, have seen treadmills go unused in many homes.

The article offers a list of home gym equipment, of course the lower-cost alternatives to expensive exercise equipment.

  • A yoga mat
  • Small free weights
  • An exercise ball
  • A jump rope

Here is the entire article. [Home gyms race hearts, but make them personal]

What kind of home gym equipment have you invested in? What would your dream fitness home gym consist of ?

I don’t own any fitness equipment, but its been something I’ve been tempted to buy recently. I’ve owned a rowing machine and a weight bench in the past, and used both for short bursts of time. I’ve been most interested in the Total Gym lately because it is compact. However, the rule I’ve imposed on myself is I’ll only buy a piece of equipment after I demonstrate regularly exercising without it - nightly push-ups, sit-ups/crunches, etc., and so far, I haven’t made it a regular thing. So I don’t own any equipment - yet!

Thanks - I got here via the blogcatalog broadcast, btw.

hey Metroknow

I like your rule! Excellent idea, demonstrate discipline with regularly exercising before you spend a lot of money on workout equipment you may never use. “Consistency, few have it, we all need it.” Thanks for visiting!

Exercise Equiptment?

More like a pair of Nike’s, an iPod, and some jogging shorts…and maybe a water bottle.

I’ve been wanting to get a yoga mat since forever, but the floor hasn’t been too hard on my back for crunches, so I think I’ll probably put off a little longer for one.

I almost got a pair of weights a while back to tone up my arms, but I didn’t do that either. I quit going to the gym because a guy started stalking me there. So, it’s back to the track.

Interesting posts lately. Keep it up. I really enjoy them.

hey Courtney

I with you on the pair of Nike’s, my Mp3 player, etc. I purchased a yoga mat for only a few bucks. I use it mostly for my crunches and push ups.

Some guy started stalking you? I have a few suggestions for situations like this if your interested.

Lastly, I do use the perfect push-up. By the way, thanks for your encouraging words. I’ll continue to do my best.

Home exercise is great, people don’t need to be dependent on local gyms. I love to run outdoors. Outdoor workouts, by far are more effective. Thanks for stopping by! I’m glad you enjoyed the site.
